This is a simple and delicious recipe I learned from one of my favorite cooks, Jamie Oliver. It features juicy chicken drumsticks coated in a sweet homemade BBQ-Chili sauce. This recipe is perfect for my blog section, "What's for Dinner, Mom?" because it is easy to prepare, nutritious, and delicious.
The very first sauce was pretty simple! In 1698, a Dominican missionary named Père Labat traveled to the French West Indies, where he saw local chefs in action. They were seasoning their barbecued meat with a tasty blend of lime juice and hot peppers. Isn't that fascinating?
This delicious sauce probably has roots in Africa, where cooks have traditionally used lemon and lime juice to brighten up their dishes. It is amazing to see how flavors travel and evolve!
Elevating the classic fried or roasted chicken, this Chicken Drumsticks with Homemade BBQ-Chili Sauce Recipe takes ordinary chicken drumsticks and infuses them with a vibrant array of flavors. This dish promises a delightful combination of smoky barbecue goodness and succulent tenderness, turning simple chicken into a feast that will tantalize your taste buds with every bite.
Bringing this dish to a potluck or family gathering will make you look like a culinary superstar, all while using accessible ingredients that everyone can appreciate.

Ingredients:
- 8 chicken drumsticks
- 5 tablespoons of ketchup
- 1 tablespoon of red wine vinegar
- 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika
- 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons of light brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon of chili sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon of Dijon mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon of coarse sea salt
Directions:
1.- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Select a baking dish large enough to accommodate the chicken drumsticks. In the dish, mix the ketchup, red wine vinegar, smoked paprika, Worcestershire sauce, light brown sugar, chili sauce, and Dijon mustard to create the sauce.
2.- Coat the chicken drumsticks in the sauce, ensuring that the sauce reaches inside the skin as well as on the outside. Arrange the coated drumsticks in the baking dish and sprinkle coarse salt over them before placing in the oven.
3.- Bake the drumsticks for 40 minutes, turning them halfway through and basting them with the sauce from the baking dish.
4.- Broil the drumsticks for 5 minutes to crisp the skin.
