Did you know there is a National Beans 'N' Franks Day? Yes, every July 13, in the United States, the Beans and Franks celebrate their day. There is no better way to blend Sofrito with an American classic than with this easy recipe of Beans and Franks. The exact origin of this extraordinary idea of mixing Franks with canned Beans is unclear. Some say it originated during the Civil War among the soldiers who prepared them frequently. Back in Venezuela, I didn't know this was such a popular American dish, but I cooked it often because of its simplicity and budget-friendliness. Although our beans are not sweet, the first time I opened a can of maple and cured bacon baked beans, I knew Sofrito and Franks had to join those beans to create a marvelous sweet and salty contrast. I hope you enjoy this delicious, simple, and nutritious meal with Sofrito for a more Latin flavor.

Ingredients:
- 6 Frankfurters (all beef Franks)
- 1 Medium Onion
- 3 Sweet Peppers
- 1 Clove of Garlic
- 2 tbsp Butter
- 1 Can of Maple and Bacon Baked Beans
- Green onions for garnish
- White sticky rice (optional)
- Pepper to taste
Directions:
1.- Begin by slicing the frankfurters, chopping the onion and sweet peppers, and mincing the garlic.
2.- Heat a cast iron skillet or your preferred skillet over medium heat. Add one tablespoon of butter and sauté the frankfurters for about 4 minutes until evenly browned .

3.- Introduce the Sofrito veggies, add one tablespoon of butter to the skillet, and mix everything. Sauté the frankfurters with the Sofrito until they caramelize, which should take around four more minutes.
4.-Â Incorporate the beans into the skillet and combine all the ingredients. Allow them to simmer for 5 minutes over low heat.

5.-Â Finally, serve the dish garnished with chopped green onions. This savory dish can be enjoyed as it is or served on top of fluffy white sticky rice.
